If the emails you send from your domain keep ending up in your recipients' spam folder, it's almost always because three records that prove your mail is legitimate are missing: SPF, DKIM and DMARC. It sounds technical, but you set it up once and forget about it.
What each one does:
- SPF: states which servers are allowed to send mail on behalf of your domain.
- DKIM: signs every message so the recipient can verify it wasn't tampered with.
- DMARC: tells the receiving server what to do if a message fails SPF or DKIM.
How to set them up:
- Log in to cPanel and open Email Deliverability.
- Next to your domain you'll see whether SPF and DKIM are valid. If there's a warning, click Repair and cPanel sets them up for you.
- For DMARC, add a TXT record in your DNS zone at
_dmarc.yourdomain.comwith a gentle starting value:v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:you@yourdomain.com.
If your domain's DNS is managed somewhere other than your hosting, copy the SPF and DKIM values cPanel shows you and create them as TXT records at your DNS provider.
DNS changes can take a few hours to propagate. After that, send yourself a test email to Gmail and check it lands in the inbox. Still having trouble? Open a ticket with an example and we'll take a look.
