Hosting several websites in one account (addon domains) Print

On a hosting plan that allows it, you can host more than one website in the same cPanel account, each with its own domain. These are called addon domains.

How to add a new website:

  1. Log in to cPanel and open Domains.
  2. Click Create A Domain and enter the domain you want to host.
  3. cPanel suggests a folder inside your account (for example /public_html/mydomain.com); you can keep the one it proposes.
  4. Save. You can now upload that site's files into its folder.

Important — the domain has to point here: adding it in cPanel isn't enough. The addon domain needs its nameservers or its A record pointing at your hosting (just like your main domain). If you registered it with us and it uses our nameservers, it's usually ready to go.

Quick differences:

  • Addon domain: a standalone site with its own domain.
  • Subdomain: a section under your main domain (blog.yourdomain.com).
  • Alias: another domain that shows the exact same site as your main one.

If your plan has hit its website limit, you can upgrade it from your client area. Not sure how many sites your plan covers? Just ask us by ticket.
