Changing the nameservers of a domain Print

  • 0

Nameservers (NS) tell the internet which server handles the DNS for your domain. If you want to point your domain to a different hosting provider or external service, you will need to change them.

  1. Sign in to www.goservix.com.
  2. In the menu, click Domains > My Domains.
  3. Click the domain you want to edit.
  4. In the left panel, pick Nameservers.
  5. Enter the nameservers given to you by your provider (usually two: ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com).
  6. Save the changes.

Propagation takes anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours. During that time, part of the world will see the domain pointing to the new service and part to the old one; this is normal.
